Styling your hair can be a seriously dangerous activity. I've gotten much better at not burning myself every time I pick up a curling iron (thanks in part to some heat-protective gloves). But, man, have I gotten some bad burns in my day and seen some awful ones on my friends. Thus, I wanted to pass along a tip that celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis shared on Twitter last night about what to do right after a hair styling burn (because he just had it happen to himself—major occupational hazard). His quick and easy strategy: Soak the area in milk for 15 minutes, which in his experience takes the heat out and helps the skin heal faster.

Celebrity aestheticism Renee Rouleau has also addressed this topic, posting a great, super-detailed blog post about how to heal a curling-iron burn and fade any resulting scar. Her advice: The less you mess with it, the quicker it'll heal. "The less you do it to the better, but keeping it moist and protected with an antibacterial ointment such as Neosporin followed by a Band-Aid or sterile, lint-free gauze can aid in the healing process."

Promised you yesterday that today we'll talk a bit  about demons, why demons you may wonder. Mostly because, we all have them, like we all have dreams and often, on subconscious level our demons appear when we dream. Mine certainly are, sneaky little bastards. 

I'm not going to ask you if you dream, 'cause we all do, we dream in our sleep, we daydream or we simply have dreams. Whether we remember them or not, that's another story.

But have you wondered what your dreams and nightmares are all about? I'm a bit of a control freak with certain aspects of my life, so mine reflect chaos or situations that I can't influence. It's great to be able to know what and what not you can control or do, because you can easily let go.

In  Howard Gardner’s  Theory of Multiple Intelligences, he described this self awareness as intrapersonal intelligence. Simply  having an understanding of yourself,  knowing who you are, what you can do, what you want to do, how you react to things, which things to avoid, and which things to gravitate toward. We are drawn to people who have a good understanding of themselves. They tend to know what they can and can’t do, and to know where to go if they need help.

She has won millions of hearts over a career spanning nearly three decades. Here’s a look at the life and times of the Madhubala of the 1990s.

KARACHI: Few can dazzle the screen with a smile as bewitching, movement as lithe and charisma as incontestable as the gorgeous Mahduri. From the naive newly married woman in Abodh to the furious feminist of Gulaab Gang, the actror steadily graduated from a promising newcomer to an iconic figure in her three-decade-long career.


The spell her stunning face, poised dance and persuasive histrionics cast on Bollywood and its followers is far from broken. The Bollywood’s original Dhak-Dhak girl has acted in many hit films like Dil, Saajan, Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Raja and Dil Tou Pagal Hai and Devdasamong others. In 2008, Madhuri was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award by the Government of India. She has also won six Filmfare awards and has several other prestigious awards to her credit. In 2002, she took a sabbatical from films to raise her children and made a comeback with the musical Aaja Nachle in 2007. Dixit also judged two seasons of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Madhuri again returned recently with Dedh Ishqiya and Gulaab Gang, playing unconventional roles. She managed to make a successful comeback with these two projects and is now choosy about the roles she picks.



Personal life

Born on May 15, 1967, Madhuri Dixit-Nene took Bollywood by storm in the 1990s. The viewers were smitten by her elegance, her unparalleled dancing skills and most of all, her beauty. Born to Shankar Dixit and Snehlata Dixit, Madhuri is the youngest of four siblings. She rocked the nation with dance numbers like Choli ke peechhe and Channe ke khet meinand broke a million hearts with her decision to marry Sriram Madav Nene, a UCLA-trained cardiovascular surgeon who practices in Denver. The couple has two sons, Arin and Raayan. After marriage, Dixit moved to Denver and lived there for almost a decade. However, she couldn’t keep away from the glamorous world of Bollywood and shifted back to Mumbai with her family in 2011.



Controversies

Madhuri Dixit is one of the most loved actors in Bollywood, but she has had her set of controversies too. From a controversial relationship to a much debated professional life, Madhuri’s stint in Bollywood is nothing short of a filmy drama. Madhuri romanced Sanjay Dutt in several hit films like Khalnayak and Saajan, which gave impetus to their off-screen love life, despite Dutt being married to Richa Chada. Madhuri was also linked with Anil Kapoor, as the duo churned out hit films like Tezaab, Ram Lakhan and Beta among others.

While she was still trying to make a mark in the industry, Madhuri made a bold move. She romanced an actor 20 years older than her, Vinod Khanna in Dayavan and shot an intimate scene with him which created quite a stir. Later, when the actor was on top of her game, she said that she regretted that move and should have refused to do the scene.

Being at the top comes at a cost and Madhuri paid the cost of making rivals in Bollywood. While Sridevi had already been a reigning queen during the 1980s, Madhuri made an impressive mark on filmmakers with her film Tezaab. Soon the two were said to be competing with for films. It was an allegedly unspoken rivalry as the two tried to outdo each other with every film they did. With age not on her side, Sridevi faded from the Bollywood scenario, while Mahduri went on to give impressive hits at the box office. Madhuri and Juhi Chawla were also rivals at the time when they ruled the box office. The actor was also criticised for demanding ridiculously high salaries.

According to some gossip that went around, during the Kargil war, Pakistani army taunted, “We will leave Kashmir if Indians give us Madhuri Dixit.” As a reply to this, the Indian army shot the person who said this and replied, “From Madhuri, with love!”



Madhuri Dixit is said to be the only female actor to have been nominated 13 times for the Filmfare Best Actress Award.

How to perfectly apply nail colour

Looking to give those nails a colour boost, well then check out these expert tips with some help from Wikihow to ensure you get a top paint that lasts longer and looks professionally done:

Apply a coat of your desired nail colour. Don’t worry about it going over the edge of your nails, onto your cuticles or the surrounding skin. Once done with all nails wait for a couple of minutes for the nail polish to dry.

Once the first coat is completely dry, apply a second coat. Again, don’t worry about not being neat.

Once the second coat is dry, apply a final coat of clear nail polish and leave it for a couple of minutes for it to dry.

Sink your hands in hot soapy water and gently massage the skin around your nails, also grab a cloth or sponge and gently rub your fingers.

Next step is to rinse your hands with cold water, wash off the soapy water.

Dry your hands gently with a towel. Any nail polish that went off your nails during aplication will have been cleared away by the hot water.

Being the predominant shade of choice this spring, neon colours have taken over not only the runways but also retail outlets by a storm. Whether it is head to toe neon or just neon accents, these bright shades are all the rage.

Recently, Nickie n Nina launched its quirky, ready-to-wear casual range Neon. “It is a mother daughter concept collection,” says Nickie, “we wanted to create a range that is wearable by all age groups. Older women today want to wear trendy and fun clothes. Long gone are the days that middle aged women would opt for basic silhouettes.”

“The design house creates silhouettes and cuts that can be worn by all sorts of body types. All tunics come with optional drawstring belts. Skinnier girls can always belt the tunic to make it more flattering but the outfits are designed in such a manner that the average Pakistani woman can also find a flattering cut,” she continues.

The range comprises of pure cotton stripped palazzos, kurtas, tunics and jumpsuits. Even though jumpsuits have been overdone and have become quite boring, people in Pakistan are still trying hard to hang onto the trend. The range is infused with white to make the neon colours pop. The design house has kept the prints monochrome and allowed for the neon accents to shine and do the talking. The colour palette predominantly ranges from electric pink and atomic tangerine orange to parrot green and forget-me-not blue paired with monochrome prints.

The design house has kept the embellishments subtle, with light embroideries and shoulders with pearl and fringe details and pockets. The collection has wavering hemlines that can be paired with tailored pants or leggings.

“It is a capsule collection and we will be capping the production,” continues Nickie, “it is not for mass production and will be available in Karachi and Lahore at our retail outlets.”

The design house plans on coming out with two separate volumes for the summer with different aesthetics. “This is the first volume and we will come out with the second one later on in the summer.”

Here are the tips and products that will help you recreate the look at home:

• Begin by contouring the skin using Studio Sculpt by Laura Mercier.

• Follow this by highlighting through the t-zone, all the way under the eyes and down the sides of the nose with MAC Prolongwear in NC15, a much lighter concealer.

• Buff the two shades in with a MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush.

• Powder all over the skin using NARS Beach and a MAC 129 Powder Brush.

• Next, define and contour the cheekbones using NARS Laguna and a MAC 109 Contouring Brush. The brush is quite small in size which gives you great control.

• For the Eyes, use Kryolan HD Skinliner in 22 Brown and Girls with Attitude lashes in ‘Short and Sweet’ for a natural look but to add volume and a flick!

• Define the brows with a Bobbi Brown eyebrow pencil in Brunette. Use a very light technique to draw tiny fine hairs, then comb the brow through to give a more natural illusion.

Even subtle variations in the brows had a significant effect on how the woman’s mood was perceived. Here is how you can pluck the perfect eye-brows:

Determine your eye set

There are three different kinds of eye sets: normal, close and wide set. Eye set is recognized by measuring your eye from the inner to outer corner.

If your eye measurement is the same as the distance between your eyes that means you have normal set eyes and your brows should start in the inner eye.

If distance is more, then you have wide set eyes and they should start from further in.

If the distance is less, then you have close set eyes and your brows should start a little past the inner eye.

Determine where your arch should peak

Angle the straight edge so that it lines up with the outermost edge of your nose and the outermost edge of your iris. You should look straight ahead — both your face and your eyes should be looking directly forward at the mirror. Wherever the line intersects your eyebrow is where the peak of your arch should begin.

Determine where your brow should end

Angle the straight edge further so that it touches the outermost edge of your nose and also passes along the outermost edge of your eye.

Determine your brow’s thickness

Use an eye pencil to draw a line along the bottom edge of your brow; it should be above any stray hairs and it should follow the natural shape of your brow’s top line, which may be angled, slightly curved, or even straight. Pluck the strays below the line. Your eyebrow should be between ¼ and ½ inches at their thickest.

Shape your arch

The arch should peak above the outer rim of your iris and lie right on your eyebrow bone: Mark the point with your eye pencil and then remove hair along the bottom, from your inner brow point to the peak point, says womens healt hmag. After the peak, shape the tail. Make it slightly thinner than the main part of your brow, tapering at the end.

A List of the Different Types of Kisses And What They Mean

Forehead Kiss - The forehead kiss usually means that you are just friends. Depending on how it is planted, it can also be used as a means of showing deep affection to a loved one. Most people use use it as a starter kiss when they meet someone new, to express that they like them.

The Eskimo Kiss - It is commonly used by children and parents as an indication of affection. It involves rubbing your nose against your loved nose back and forth. This type of kiss has its origin from the Eskimo, hence the name Eskimo kiss.

The French Kiss - The French is considered most popular romantic kiss. A kiss is named ‘French kiss’ when a person’s tongue touches another person’s tongue. This is why it is also known as tongue kissing. This type of kiss is very easy to execute but it may take years to master.

The Single-Lip Kiss - This type of kiss involves gently sucking another person’s lip. To give your partner a single-lip kiss, you have to take any one of their lips sandwiched between yours and suck gently. If done in the correct manner, this kiss can send a strong romantic signal to you partner.

The Hand Kiss - It is given by gently grasping someone’s hand by the fingers and kissing the back side. The hand kiss demonstrates respect, adoration and kindness.

The Upside-Down Kiss - This type of kiss originates from the Spiderman movie. it is a romantic kiss It is also known as the spiderman kiss. It involves kissing a person whose head is upside-down from yours. This way your bottom lip kisses their top lip and vice versa.

Lingering Lip Kiss - This is a closed mouth kiss that lasts for more than 20 seconds. The tongue is not involved in this kiss. Lingering lip kisses involve the lips only. This kiss serves as an indication of deep love.

The Cheek Kiss - This is a closed mouth kiss on someone’s cheeks. This kiss can be used to flirt, to pass a friendly greeting or to say goodbye to someone you love.

The Peck - The peck is a short tight lipped kiss on the lips or cheeks. It is used as an expression of friendship. A peck can also spark romance between two people. If you don’t get over it, just make him/her your lover.

The Lip-Gloss Kiss - This is a fun kiss. It involves putting on a harmless amount of ChapStick or lip gloss on the lips and then rubbing it on your partner’s lips until they are also coated. It is recommended that you use a lip gloss that is sweet and flavored to surprise your partner.

Secret Message Kiss - This is basically a French kiss with a ‘secret message’. It involves spelling out a message to your partner in the in the middle of a French kiss. This kiss is useful if you want to pass a romantic message to your partner.

The Lizard Kiss - This kiss involves sticking your tongue in and out of your partner’s mouth. It is done in quick strokes. The lizard kiss is usually practiced just for fun.

The Air Kiss - The air kiss is used as a form of greeting to friends and family. It is done by resting your cheeks on or near someone’s cheeks and then producing a kissing sound.

The Angel Kiss - This kiss involves kissing someone gently on the eyelids or on a spot near the eyes using the lips. This type of kiss indicates deep affection and is mostly used when saying goodbye to someone or when waking up a loved one.

The Biting Kiss - This is an open mouthed kiss that incorporates the tongue just like the French kiss. The only difference between this kiss and the French kiss is the fact that the teeth are also put into use. The teeth gently grab your partners tongue as you kiss.

The Neck Kiss - As the name suggests, neck kissing involves kissing someone’s neck. Most people love doing it after French kissing for a while. You have to learn to keep the saliva ‘light’ to execute this type of kiss perfectly. Use only your lips and do not suck hard to prevent you mouth from producing much saliva.

The Vampire Kiss - It is done for fun. This is a deep kiss on your partner’s neck. It also involves light biting and sucking. Some people might find this kiss not sexy, therefore it is important to find out whether your partner likes it or not.

The Jawline Kiss - It is done by people who are used to each other. You should never try this kiss on someone you just met. A jawline kiss is a firm kiss on the lower side of the jaw where the neck meets the jaw. It is usually fun to kiss someone’s jawline after having some intense French kissing.

The Teaser Kiss - This kiss begins from the forehead, to the lips and then down to the arms and hands. On reaching the hands, the sequence is reversed from the hands then up to the lips and forehead. This kiss can be quite useful if you want to turn on your partner and make them want more.

With all these types of kisses, kissing will never get boring. The most important thing is finding out the types of kisses that you and your partner enjoy.
